Help, 1yr bedtime tantrums, ending up sick

Help... until recently my 1yr old was easy at bedtime : book, bath (calpol given in bath if nec), into sleeping bag, milk and bed - would sleep in my arms and be put in cot or put himself to sleep in cot.

Now - same routine, but as soon as he goes into the cot he's wide awake, standing in his sleeping bag, screaming to be picked up. Have tried cradling, leaving him, controlled crying, sleeping beside him but he's getting so worked up he's fighting me / being physically sick.

I know he's teething as well which isn't helping... but is anyone else having this problem. Help ;-(

Had this with my ds from about 10 months old. I guess it's part of seperation anxiety - my ds simply couldn't bear to be left. This went on for ages, and I feel for you because it's so disrupting when they're getting to puking up stage. And though we tried a night or so of controlled crying, the sick puts an end to that because you're then in there cleaning up the entire room....

I totally think it depends on the child as well. My ds would not be 'trained' out of this because his anxiety was so bad about bedtime. We ended up staying in with him while he dropped off. It worked well for us. He knew that we only stayed while he was being good and laying down trying to sleep etc.

Hopefully other people might have other tips for you but with us the only thing that worked was staying in with him!
