9 months old MN email - the brick test

Just got the MN developmental email for dd2 who is 9 months tomorrow which mentioned the brick test - handing them a third when they already have one in each hand.

So I thought I'd try it on dd2. Handed her 2 bricks then proffered the 3rd - she didn't hesitate just opened her mouth & bit the brick then sat there pleased as punch with her 3 bricks - not the calmly considered approach suggested in the email! I did already know I hasd a dd2 who knows what she wants!

Try it on your 9 month old & let me know what happens!!

ha! Your DD is clearly a problem-solving genius!

I tried this with DS when he was 9 months old and he just gave me a look like this and carried on banging the two bricks he already had together. Two bricks is enough for banging, why would he want more?

borntofolk - She did crawl off with all 3 & start banging them on the door almost immediately - bricks are definately
for banging!
I think perhaps it was because with dd1 at pre-school she actually had the chance to get her hands on some toys so she was trying to make the most of it!!
