and open the car door!
arrrggghhh!!!!!!!

DS 2.2 wound the window down a bit on the way home tonight. i could hear the wind coming in. tried some distraction but then the lights come on in the car!!!! argHH he has opened the door!! we have an older car so no child safety locks. DS was still firmly strapped into is seat as i could feel the buckle.

all this while we are driving down a narrow dark lane on the way home with cars behind me and no real place to pull over.

i did eventuall pull over and get the door and window closed and offer a disraction toy but i think i am going to have nightmares about this tonight.

Oh no, that's frightening. COuld you put his seat in the middle?

moocowme · 18/11/2009 19:55

i think that is what i shall have to do. otherwise i am going to look at tying the door shut from the inside somehow. i just hope he does not learn to undo his seatbel any time soon.

Are you sure you don't have childlocks on your car? I think they've been mandatory on car doors for about 20 years now.

My friend had a similar issue, thought she didn't have them, but she did - they were recessed into the door panel and not labelled.

brings it all back - ds did this at the same age on the M25 - it was dark as well though luckily i was sitting in a back-seat too - i was desperately tring to hold the door shut at a really awkward angle without removing my seat belt (it just wouldn't close - i had dh going hysterical in the front and ds grinning from ear to ear - we finally 'found' the child lock that day

our car is 19 years old but i will have another look in the morning.
