ADHD

my little boy of 7 was diagnosed with ADHD middle of this year, and he is struggling with his concentration/sitting still at school - He is constantly getting told off and can't understand why he is different to other children in his class. I am not keen with him going on medication because of lots of things I have heard about it, although the school would like me to put him on it - any advice on this?

Pebbles, our DD was dx ADHD also. I read a million articles, discussions on the net and every single one will contradict the other ones I found a book though, that was very helpful in understanding more about this condition.

'How to Reach and Teach children with ADD/ADHD' by Sandra F. Rief, gives very good tips about parenting them at home as well as in school, explains the conditions and talks about medication in detail. The whole medication thing doesn't seem so scary to us anymore.
