Maybe a stupid question - at what age do you swap your pram for a pushchair?

I have the Quinny Buzz with the carry cot and the pushchair attachment. My DS is four months old on Wednesday and is starting to run out of space in the carry cot...he's not uncomfortable by any means but should I have him in the pushchair by now? He can hold his head up, when his body is supported.

Thank you My baby book has been invaluable throughout this journey but threw me off scent when I read in it today a safety section about always ensuring you strap your baby into his buggy...and I thought, buggy? When was this transition supposed to have taken place?!

I know he's ready to face outwards in his Baby Bjorn so maybe he is ready for the pushchair.

DC3 has had a buggy from birth but I think I started raising a seat (to the lowest notch that wasn't lying flat) at about 4 months. He is 6 months soon and has been sitting up almost upright now for about 2-3 weeks, when he is awake. When he is asleep I tend to lower it down a bit! If I notice.. LOL

We changed it when DS started to sit up - around 5 months. We got a pushchair with a adjustable reclining back, but TBH, he's never really slept in it as he's far too nosy.

I don't think there's a set age really- you switch either when they run out of room in the carrycot or when they are starting to enjoy being propped up to see a bit more of the world. Sounds like your son might soon be ready on both counts but there's no need to worry that you've missed an important transition, afaik.

I have the same system as you, OP, and I started to use the pushchair, with DS facing me, at about 4 months. He's 5 months now and loves being able to look around!

My youngest was in her carrycot (Bug Cam) until she was seven months or so but she was born six weeks prem so was quite small. She did fill it by the end though.

So the Quinny pushchair attachment can be adjusted? I'll swap it over next time I go out, how exciting!

I have an iCandy Apple but same as the others, switched my baby over to pushchair around (before ) 4 months. He could still fit in the pram but barely, and was clearly bored just lying on his back. Now loves looking at the outside world (I like it too as I can have him backwards facing) and is much happier whilst out and about.

I do use an insert to enable him to fit more securely in the pushchair unit, and he looks very cozy and happy. I ignored the "wait til 6 months" notice -- there's no way he could hold out that long. Besides the seat unit is still tilted back slightly and he could hold his head well so no problem.
