Is my DD likely to be teething?

Sorry first time mum so probably a stupid question but my normall very good nature 19 week old DD has become a little grump over the last few days and has thrown some monumental hissy fits.

Her 'symptoms' are as follows:

Constantly dribbling (has been like this for weeks now but has got worse) I go through about 10 bibs a day

Runny poos (I know there is debate as to whether this is realted or not)

Little red cheeks

Gone from sleeping 11 hours a night in peace to taking around 50 minutes to get to sleep (constant screaming) to waking evrey couple of hours screaming

Hands in mouth a lot more than normal (is this just developmental?)

If I put my pinkie in her mouth she will bite down as opposed to suck.

If it is teething does anyone know if its safe to give baby Calgel and Calpol together?

Hi. That's what my DS was like when teething and it was from about the same age, didn't get his 1st tooth until about 6 months though. When things got really bad I used to give calpol and dentinox together. I didn't use calgel so am unsure whether you can give those together, it should say on the packaging though. The Tommee tippee 1st teethers were good for DS or you could try wetting and freezing some muslim and letting her chew that. The one thing I used religiously was Ashton and Parsons teething powders. I've still got some in for when his last molars start coming! I think your dd can have half a sachet at her age, definitely worth a try I get mine at local chemist so should be pretty widely available I would of thought. Hth x

Mine is exactly the same, right now! She is nearly 4 months.

Going to watch this carefully, as DD1 was never affected by teething, so it's all new...

Thanks as this is my first exerience how long do these bouts last? Does it come in waves or will it be like this til tooth arrives? (do you feel the air of desperation?!)
I'm heading to pharmacy later so will ask about combining gels powders and calpol. Thanks

DS was pretty much like that till he cut his first although some days were definitely worse than others. Once that first one was through he used to grizzle for anything from a few days to a week before cutting a tooth then be fine until the next one was on the move. If I remember rightly once the front ones were through it wasn't so bad until he cut his first molars. I don't know if it was him getting used to it or me in all honesty! They're all different though and hopefully your DD will go through teething like ImSoNotTelling's DD1! Good Luck!

To answer my own question: been to pharmacy and they say it's ok to take calpol and calgel together. Will give it a try...

Well that didn't work! She went to bed at 7.45 as normal and between than and 10.45 she was up 6 times. Then up at 01.30 quick cuddle and back down again til 07.15. Each time she wakes up screaming. Think we are just in shock as she has always settled really easily and slept til around 8 each morning. I'm now wondering if it's a combination of teething and just general development. Her little cheeks are so red. How did you get on Imsonot?

Oh dear. Mind you 1.30 til 7.15 is pretty good going anyway!

DD did go down at about 7 then had a good yell at 8, then 10ish, woke for a feed at 12.30 then 4.30 then 7.

She is dribbling and unsettled, no red cheeks though i think it's just the beginning, she's still very young. Had her jabs today as well so tonight might be fun!

This sounds just like my dd who is 15wks. I started a thread a couple of days ago as was worried that it coincided with her 2nd lot of injections. Just like OP my DD was always really contended & happy & very easy to settle at night - even going 10-11 hours a night at 12 weeks. In fact from about 4 weeks she was only waking once for a feed during the night.

Then all of a sudden, 3 days after her 2nd injections (at 13wks), she started really screaming at night, waking every 2-3 hours & not settling back down after a feed.

Her daytime routine hasn't changed, although her naps are a little more 'restless', and she is still happy & bubbly during the day. It's just from 8pm onwards that she changes!

Got her weighed on Tues & altough she is still putting weight on she has dropped of her percentile so HV says she is just cluster feeding (she's breastfed) at night to build it back up again. Fine, but surely this wouldn't go on for over 2 weeks??

I know she is younger than your little one but she too has really red cheeks, is very drooly & is constantly putting things in her mouth so i too am sure she's more than just cluster feeding. Just not sure what to do as tiredness is really kicking in now Think i may try get in to see GP tomorrow & see what they say as surely we can't give them calpol on a regular basis??.........

Mine had her second jabs today hindsight, so not a link there - I'm sure there isn't with you either.

Red cheeks drooling and things in mouth = teething, I'm sure.

Today was quite a busy day for us so it was difficult to tell how she compared with earlier this week but I tried calgel and the ashtons & parsons powders and she seemed to get a bit of a relief. Pretty convinced it's teething when I put the gel on her gums she was biting down really hard usually she'd just suck in the hope there was milk coming! Re jags, my DD was a bit out of sorts with first lot but no effects at second got third in a week or so which I'm dreading. Currently lying in bed holding our breath and willing her to get a good solid sleep. Best of luck ladies....
