9 month old utterly terrified of laughter - help!

My 9mo DD gets so frightened when anyone laughs that she howls. It takes ages to calm her down.

Please tell me if you have experienced similar, and that it will be a short-lived phase. This is taking some of the joy out of family life!

Ds1 was terrified of sneezes at about that age. I think it was because it's an unexpected loud noise. He also hated the vacuum cleaner, food processor and hairdryer! But by the time he was about 14mo he loved sneezes and thought they were the funniest thing ever. He's now 3 and indifferent to sneezes, and just about over his dislike of other loud noises.
