My PFB is going on his first residential school trip tomorrow - for 2 nights!

Well, he is nearly 9 and very excited about it but I am consumed by worry about everything!!! Will he sleep OK, will he wear his coat, remember to brush his teeth? (No

He isn't even going with any of his close friends (they all went Mon!), but he doesn't seem bothered! Actually I'm very proud of him in that respect - his confidence hasn't always been that strong.

Ah and his little brother will miss him terribly too .......

He will be fine!

He will be fine. DS1 went when he was 7. His brother dd not miss him. He just basked in the attention of two guilt ridden anxious parents.

For goodness sake, whatever you do, do not blub, fuss or even appear concerned in front of his mates. Indeed, drive in drop him and his bag and then run. When you get home, you are allowed to collapse in a heap of anxiety.

As for cleaning teeth..... well our DS1 was the only boy to have a shower at all in 3 days! [proud parent emoticon]

Apparently my son's teacher has told them that they probably won't have time to wash!!!

Bugger! He's been sleepwalking tonight - something he hasn't done for months.

He only does it when he is anxious or tired -
God, I was already fretting now I'm on the wine!!!

Going to have to get into school tom before they go off on trip and let his teacher know he's been up and about tonight! Had already told her that he sometimes sleepwalks but hasn't done it for months!

For god's sake!! he's not a baby - he'll be well looked after and have a great time. Don't be so self-indulgent - but do mention the sleep walking. You can bet others do it too, and those in charge will put him in the bottom bunk and have plans to deal with it, if it happens.

Don't whatever you do cry in front of him! It will be great-keep you worries to yourself. Everyone has them -the important thing is not to show it.

My dd went on her school camp a couple of weeks ago. She departed with 8 clean pairs of knickers and came home with 7 clean pairs of knickers [vomit]. He'll have the time of his life just don't let him see you blub, as someone else said, do it at home or in the car.

I wasn't being self-indulgent Fumanchu - just concerned for his safety and wellbeing.

He will be fine. I have been there with both of my DSs.
Just a small tip for when he gets back, based on my experience of school trips and cub camps.
You will be desperate to see DS and hear all about his trip.
He will not have had much sleep and will be beyond tired and probably grumpy. Try not to expect him too much from him straight away.
Home, bath food then bed and he'll tell you all about it next day.

Typical boy never tells me much anyway!!! Also we're off out to dinner in the evening so he can regale the GP's with his stories if he can stay awake!!
