2.4 yo removing nighttime nappy...

...and weeing in the bed. She's been potty trained during the day for about a month now. I think that she is trying to get to the potty but isn't making it in time. We've had this for three nights now. I don't know how our washing machine is going to keep up. We tried putting pyjama bottoms on her last night but she still undid the nappy and wee'd on the bed. We've had her in training pants before but they don't keep her very dry and we were unable to cope with the constant disturbed nights with her calling out just after she did a wee.

What do we do?

Personally I'd try to get all in one nightwear!

She's clearly not ready for night time dryness yet though bless her for trying!

You can get toddler-sized all in one pyjamas like babygro's but without feet....stick her in a nappy and do her up in one of those and see if it helps?

Have you tried putting her in a sleeping bag with a pull up on? She's probably not developmentally there to be potty trained during the night yet (and may not be for a while). The nights are drawing in, she'll probably be less keen to be wet and cold in a few weeks.

DH has just told me that the night before last DD took her dry nappy off at about 6am and then did her wee. I wonder if she is getting ready for night time dryness

We don't use a sleeping bag anymore because she spends the first five minutes of the night getting out of it and then gets cold and has to be put back into it.

It is very unusual to be dry at night at her age.

One dry night doesn't mean a great deal I'm afraid. If she's dry seven nights in a row, maybe you have cracked it. Otherwise it's probably a fluke.

If she's old enough to be dry in the day though, is she old enough to discuss it with and find out what the issue is?

I realise that wmmc, but I was dry at night at an even younger age so I just wondered if it might happen. I did get taught how to use the potty at night though. I spoke to DD1 about the nappy and she said that she doesn't like weeing in it because it goes cold and she wants to wee in the potty.

I'm tempted to buy some body suits that she can't undo easily. I think that her nappy may acquire some extra tape tonight

It does happen. And having early trained parents apparently can help. M&S sell all in ones for toddlers. Or yes body suits and trousers might do the job.

oh i have that problem too ds2is 2.9 and he always takes his nappy off as he unzips his sleep suit ,and pulls his vest to one side grr

We had this problem with DS1 at 2.2, sorted it out with a vest w/ poppers. In his case though he's not potty trained yet so was the obvious thing to do. I figure he got this from his father, MIL says he used to undress himself at night as well (including cloth nappies) so she would put him to bed in dungarees.

Thanks for all of the responses. DD1 has some extra tape over the sticky parts on her nappy tonight and I think that I'll be going to M&S on tuesday to buy some all in ones.

oh forgot to add he can undo the poppers on his vest ,he just pulls it untill they pop open !!

Our dd used to do that. We put knickers over the nappy, then an all in one baby grow thing but put on back to front.

I used to sellotape my DD into her nighttime nappy. It was the only way. Nightmare getting her out again first thing in the morning, though!

hi yes my dd is 2 now and about 2 weeks/1 month after pt in the day she was a nightmare sleeper and would wake us up telling us she needed a wee. It just phased itself out.
No chance of getting a nappy on her she has pull ups instead.
Sometimes put knickers over the top if she protests.
If your dd is in a bed why don't you do the potty in the room with nightlight?
Maybe put pull ups on and tell her she has the choice?
