How do i get 18month old dd to keep glasses on..aarrgghhh

DD got her glasses and will not keep them on even with the elastic strap on..

any ideas?

i have total sympathy with you here on this one and will follow with great interest. dd3 is 17mths has had glasses for a couple of months now. she has days when she's really good and days which are bad. we went for glasses which had the curved arms which hook around the ear which do seem to work better for her. have to watch her constantly and as soon as she pulls them off put them straight back on. in the end we managed to get an extra prescription for glasses direct from hospital as a spare pair as unfortunately when we dont catch her in time her favourite thing is to pull the arms and brake them! all i can say is just keep trying, as we are!

try coaxing her with rewards. my own DD was the same. I would only let her watch her fav show if she was wearing her glasses, I also got some clear glass ones for myself to put on at the same time and then had fun chosing glasses strings with her although we ended up with lots and lots to match different outfits.hope this helps just keep going,oh almost forgot she also had a lovely pink barbie suitcase lookalike glasses case which went down a treat.

neoprene strap just wasn't cutting it here. i second the spares voucher. i spent the first four years standing around in opticians waiting for glasses to be patched together after they had been eaten/ stamped on/ lobbed.

My DS was 18 months when he first got glasses and the answer to your question is bribery. We had a sticker chart and once he had worn his glasses for x amount of whole days he could get a small toy and wearing them while he watches telly and sweets etc. I was lucky as all his family except me wear glasses so he saw it as normal. Invite round glasses wearing friends, family etc so he can see he is part of a "gang". In a very short while they forget they are wearing them and do "get" they can see their books, toys, TV better.
