5 month old very sicky...

He has been a very sicky baby ever since he was born but i was hoping he would have grown out of it by now. He is on solids now. He isn't as bad as he used to be but he is still being sick quite a bit over the hour after his bottle. He also brings up a bit of his solids after each meal. Anyone else have similar problems?

by sicky do you mean bringing back up his milk? our dd2 has actually been diagnosed with having reflux but I don't think she does - it sounds more like what your ds is doing. she isn't on solids yet so don't know about that. She doesn't bring nearly as much up as she used to - I was hoping she would grow out of it. I'd say ask your hv but when I did I was referred (but also for weight gain) and now she is on domperidone once a day! It just gets exhausting ( more so I should say!) wiping up the mess that they create
other than that how is he?

It doesn't seem to bother him and he is gaining weight. He doesn't do it half as much as he used to but its still very messy ans frustrating! its also very watery sometimes. is that reflux? Ive spoke to the health visitor before but she just said as he is gaining weight perfectly and it isn't bothering him, dont worry about it he will grow out of it. He is 5 months now.

my DS (now 8 months ) is and always has been VERY sicky baby we go through so many clothes and bibs we tried him on prescribed milks but they made him constipated so we just put up with the sick. He still puts on the weight.

Not so sick with solids though, mainly milk.

My dd is exactly the same. She is just five months, on solids, and although the sickness is much less than when she was on milk only, she is still sick. Usually she just brings back milk, and a bit of solid during burping etc, but sometimes is sick about an hour after the feed, and its solid that comes back. touble is its a lot messier when its solid!!

as she is still putting on plenty of weight, I'm not that bothered, although I do keep checking with the HV.

Yeah, this is big help. As the health visitor initially told me he would grow out of it by 3 months i was starting to worry there was something wrong with him! He doesn't throw up much solids but as most of the food he eats is orange, his clothes get stained and its really annoying!!

Both my DS's were sensitive to cows milk right from birth, ds 1 used to projectile vomit after breastfeeding if I'd been eating cheese or yoghurt etc,
It might be worth cutting out dairy products/lactose for a couple of days, see if it makes a difference and if it does consult with you HV.
Because ds1 wasnt diagnosed until about 3 months we had to keep him on a dairy free diet until he was 5 yrs, ds2 I put on at about 2 weeks as he had the same symptoms and hes already coping with small quantites of dairy at just 2 yrs.

My ds is a bit sicky too. He's 10 months now and it has got gradually less but he still brings up a little bit of most bottles and meals. Just messy really and the trouble is once they're properly on solids it smells like sick. Bleugh. Doesn't worry me though. He will grow out of it and in the meantime we have bibs and paper towels handy.

oh, dd is 8 now but her whole first year was plain ridiculas.
her formula was so thick it was like oatmeal and she would still bring it up..doc said it wasn't reflux.
but she couldn't hold her food down. she too, gained weight, but at four months old i remember her being sooooo hungry she would gobble up 8 oz of formula w/cereal and then a lil while later bring up about 3/4 of that. it was horrible.
a girl friend of mine has a daughter 3 weeks older and my dd and when i would bring dd over to visit she would vomit on all her lil girls stuff. swings, bouncy chairs, high chairs. i wasn't embarrassed but, embarrassing...
AND-she would breath like raspy all the time.

funny thing is now-i know why she would breathe that way (ds has reflux pretty bad) sometimes then the vomit doesn't fully make its way to the top it can seep into the lungs...lil late...

try feeding less, more often and keeping your baby propt up(sure you heard that already)and not to active for like (1hr) not 30 min.
