Help my 19 month old son still screams for bottle in the night!

Just wondering if there is anyone out there who has had this problem but has managed to knock it on the head. So Difficult to know wether we should stop or not as we are going abroard in October with the in laws!

yes mine is 2.6 years and still has a bottle at night,though its just filled with water at night and not milk, i have said to my dd that she only gets water at night not milk. its fine because if she had it in a cup it would go everywhere and she also likes hugging the bottle like a comforter.

OK, lets start again from the beginning... can you move him from the bottle to one of those lidded baby cups, there are some that have a very soft 'mouth" that could provide some transition so he can stop using the bottle as a comforter.

Just don't let him keep it in bed. If he is asking for it in the middle of the night, just offer him water, in the cup. eventually he will stop asking for it in the middle of the night.

Does he eat well in the day?

We had this problem and it came down to getting more food (yoghurt/cheese etc) into DD during the day to stop her waking up hungry at night.

Wasn't a comfort thing in our case but it can be for others.

DD was like this and would also drink loads of milk at night. I took a while to do something about it - just before she was 2 we went shopping for "big girl beakers" and I stopped giving her milk in a bottle. It really helped - she stopped waking up so much for it and after a couple of months the night wakign was much better.

Thanks for all your good advice. Appreciate it loads!! On the whole he eats well during the day and I try to give him lots of yoghart and cheese. I think we will wait until after the holiday and then really try to tackle it. I would hate to start it and then it all goes belly up when we are away.
