Could she be worried about anything? I know a little boy of 5 who puts things in his mouth and chews them when he is anxious even to the point of sitting on the floor and lifting his foot (complete with shoe) into his mouth! He doesn't seem to notice the horrible taste, it just seems to relieve his anxiety. Sometimes he goes weeks without doing it and then suddenly starts up again.

Can't help. essbee, but I'll be watching this with interest as my dd, who is just 4, has started doing the same thing.
