My 6 year old has just announced she is leaving home

I said go on then and now she is trying to get out of the house and is telling the 4 year old what she is going to do.

They did actually leave and went and stood by the side gate.

They are back now.

I remember leaving home when I was about 7 I took my teddy and went to the green next to our house. Got cold, went home.

I wasn't too sympathetic when she said her brother had thrown mud at her.

my 6 year old left home the other week - she told me I had disappointed her because I couldn't make an origami leopard and she was leaving - she went upstairs, packed her little rucksack (two pairs of tights , a couple of books and her unicorn toy), came backstairs and announced she was going to live in the front garden. I asked her what she was going to do if it started to rain and she said she would come back home but she wouldn't talk to me

You're all lucky. My 6 yo ds frequently claims that he is never going to leave me ever. At least you all know your child will eventually leave...

oh dd did this when she had just turned four

"I'm leaving this house right now!"

she then attempted to open the stair gate across the kitchen door (keeping the puppy in)
After a struggle she said quietly
"when I can open the frigging gate I am"

I declared I was leaving home when I was little and decided to take the dog. My mum stopped me at the gate demanding the dog back and let me go off!

I think I sat in the field feeling sorry for myself for a bit, especially as mum seemed more bothered about the bloody dog than me.

lol, these stories are hillarious! Dumble how sweet your ds says he's never going to leave you!!!!! My 2 year old is already trying to bust his way out and shouting to people waking past 'hello lady, come to your house please??!'

Ds3 used to do this. Usually he backed down at the point where dh took him upstairs and started to help him pack.

Once I decided to ask him where he was going to live, and he told me 'outdoors.' I pointed out that it might get cold and rainy, but he said he'd shelter under the eaves of the house. I then asked him what he was going to eat, and he retorted, 'Dirt and worms!!' So dh got a spoon and took him down the garden to make sure he could eat dirt and worms, because it wouldn't be responsible of us to let him go off if we weren't sure he could feed himself. At this point he decided that staying at home, even if it did mean tidying his room, was a better option. [wicked parent emoticon]

notpregnant, I think sometimes I would keep the dog, at least he doesn't argue and is always pleased to see me.
