Is this normal?

I am at my wits end. I have a DD1, 3 in October and a DD 17 months. My 17 month old DD2 has a really bad temper. If she doesn't get her own way she goes in with her teeth whatever is closest. She has a horrible screach as well. All I ever seem to do is break up fighting between the pair of them or I seem to be shouting at DD2 because I don't know what else to do!
I can reason with DD1 at the moment and the naughty mat works but DD2 is not old enough to have this reasoning.
I am so miserable and do not know what to do to keep both happy! I want both children to be happy and it just doesn't seem to be happening everyday turns sour

It sounds normal to me. It's typical toddler behaviour really, all you can do is be consistent with firmly saying 'No, we don't bite' until it passes.

Sometimes, I think, as mums we require the patience of a saint!

yeap it's normal. I only have one child who touch wood seems to be growing out of it. Whenever I took him to play with others from about 12 months til 22 months it was just constant battles, older kids snatching, my ds crying and screetching, pushing and shoving, tantrums. It is normal but knackering! I agree with supercherry, my ds went through a bad hitting and headbutting phase but being consistant worked (after a few months anyway!) He's just turned 2 now and is MUCH better.

Try not to leave them alone together.

yeah dd was like that at that age tbh she's only marginally better now and she's nearly 4

I think the screeching in a way that makes you want to rip your arm off and beat yourself with it is a girl thing though, well ds never did it

Was thinking of getting pregnant again but I am not too sure I can hack it! I know it will get better in time just seems like I am the nastiest mummy alive. I try starting each day with the 'today I will be calm all day' then end up shouting

You have to pretend as though you could be being filmed secretly.

it's a lot easier once they start nursery

with ds I think dd frustrates him cos she can't or won't play exactly as he wasnts her to, or if he doesn't want her to play at all they end up going for each other

ds2 is coming up to age 1 and it's starting there too lol, he's just developing a bit of a temper when he doesn't get his own way and dd is having jealousy issues ....oh the joys lol

I have had a constant sore throat for the summer hols lol

My 5 month old keeps putting her head to the side when sitting up and doesn't appear to be able to put it straight. Is this a normal part of their development? Thanks all.

The age difference between your 2 dd's is similar with me and my sister.

My Mum for many years thought I was always being nasty to my older sister, I would hit her, bite her and scream all the time. My Nana (mum's mum) used to tell my Mum that my sister would pinch me and hit me when she wasn't looking. She would take toys away and tease me but was careful to never get caught. When I got old enough to tell my Mum, I did but she didn't believe me. Then my Mum started to spy on my sister and she began to see how horrible she was being to me. Needless to say my mum felt pretty guilty.

I read your op and thought of this. I hope this is not the case with your dd's but just thought I'd mention it. I'm due my second just now and have a toddler, I'm expecting them to tear lumps out of each other for a few years
