When will the 'gnawing' phase end??

Can anybody please reassure me....
My boy is now 8.5 months old and has his 8 front teeth. Everything goes in his mouth. I can live with this but ever since he learnt to pull himself up he is ruining his lovely, expensive (!) cot by gnawing away at it. I have ordered some of those plastic teether rails but can anyone who's been through this and come out the other side tell me how long this phase will last? Please don't say until he stops teething!

It stopped for us at 18months and DS who is 13 months has already stopped doing it so much.

Incidentally, get lemon oil and sweep it along the rails and that'll put him off a bit (and it's antiseptic)
