squawking, tantruming and not sharing - playdates a nightmare!

My 16 month old is a nightmare when we have people round with their kids - she screams, cries and hits the other kids when they touch her toys.

People end up taking their kids home early!

Any advice? I want her to socialise with other kids but at the moment it's hopeless

Have you tried mother and toddler groups? What is she like in other people's houses.

I was going to suggest Toddler groups too but is it only when children touch her toys? Have you taken her to your friends houses? is she the same with their toys?If you have taken her to toddler groups, is she protective over what is playing with there?

I would try going to the park with one friend and taking a couple of toys each and try sharing.

I remember having a friend's little boy over for the weekend when my little boy was about this age (he's now 3.5yrs) and he wouldn't let my friends little boy touch anything (although apparently he was fine sharing toys at nursery) but it was just a phase and he soon grew out of it!
