10 month old screaming/strops - i feel clueless

My DD has just (in the last week) started high pitched screaming when she doesn't get what she wants, generally when she wants to be walked around (e.g. i will sit her down on the floor, she will scream because she wanted to be standing). It seems to have coincided with her becoming more mobile (she just crawled for the first time in the last week too). Apart from wanting to walk, she also does it when i change her nappy (i guess this is because she is being taken away from the fun?)

I don't know how to deal with it to make it stop, she was a really calm/content baby before. It is particularly when she does this in public, its so high pitched and loud!

I have tried just ignoring her or saying a very firm 'no' but i just don't know what will be effective for a 10 month old...

some things, like nappy changing, are not negotiable, explain that.
i would negotiate the other stuff, 'ok, once more' and stick to it.

she will soon understand by repetition. though i think they know pretty much everything by 10 months!
try to take it in your stride, in 8 weeks there will be another set of hurdles.
im sure lots of babies go through the screaming stage.
oh, and just ignore the general public!
