Hello! My son, aged 4, has just been referred for assessment for aspergers syndrome. Am quite freaked out by it all and really very worried. Has anyone been through this assessment and can you let me know what to look out for? Thank you! xx

I posted a list a while back of 'Some indicators of AS' You could have a search and see if it helps.

cac04 · 21/07/2009 07:36

Thank you Goblinchild, but can't find it. Can you remember when you posted it? Sorry! xx

Just clicked on to this thread. Can I recommend a book called Asperger's Syndrome - A Guide for Parents and Professionals by Tony Attwood. I found it really helpful.

cac04 · 22/07/2009 19:14

Thank you pencat! Will see if I can get hold of it. xx

Thank you so much Goblindchild! My son has most of those characteristics, not all, but as you responded in a later email, one child with AS can be completely different to another. Hope your boy is doing well! xx

My boy is doing beautifully thank you, just finished Y9 and about to launch into preparation for GCSEs.
He's good fun too, and a lot easier to manage than when he was 10.
