almost 7 month old, will NOT let me put her down, getting stressed ...

Shes always been a fabulous baby, still is!! but she just wants to be held all the time.

Its my own fault for wanting cuddles, but now as she gets older I'd like to sit her in her highchair whilst i tidy up, put her in the buggy in the garden ...

But she just grunts and screams and cries.

80% of the time I don't mind, but when I need to be ont he phone or do something else it really gets me down that she wont just sit for a few min.

Any advice?

Do you have a sling? My DS was a baby that liked to be held all the time and it's damned hard work.

If it's any comfort, they do get better as they get older and they are easier to distract.

Use a sling if she's not too heavy for you, but at 7 months she might be getting a bit big.

My younger dd was attached to the outside of my front for almost as long as she was on the inside, but she was small.

As she grew, she used to like to sit in a play ring more than being strapped into a chair - it was an inflatable, like a small fabric-covered paddling pool; it supported her back and her toys couldn't roll/fall out of reach.

If it's any consolation - she's growing up to be very independent but still extremely loving and cuddly.

my DD was like this. I spent the first 8 months or so with her attached to me. She spent a lot of time in a sling, but when she could sit, and crawl she was so much happier and would occupy herself a bit more. So don't worry, it won't last forever. In the meantime, what I did was to gradually introduce her sitting in the high chair - but right next to me so we were together iykwim. We spent quite a lot of time mumsnetting! We would also sit on the floor together, and gradually I wasn't feeling quite so suffocated.
Now she's 19 months, and running around bouncing off the alls like a pingpong ball. She comes back for lots of hugs though.

get a sling.

i started babywearing with dd4 at 4months as she wouldnt let me put her down.

now she is carried for about 2 hours a day and is quite content the rest of the day. she is currently kicking away on the playmat.

the change in her when i started carrying her was immense. she went from whingey, crying and screamy child to a lovely happy baby.
