He is talking in 2-3 word phrases. Is there anything I can do to help him to the next step ie sentences? Any ideas? He has just turned 3. thanks x

I've been advised to make sure I reply to DD (same age) with longer sentences, so if she says, "Look dog", I reply, "Yes DD, there is a brown dog in the park". Hope this helps.

What worked for us was lots of talking to my ds about everything and anything as well as making sure he was encouraged to join in the conversation. Now can't get him to shut up.

a speach and language therapist friend advised me to play something interactive- eg building blocks/cars and garages/ draw racetrack on paper and have races with cars...etc guess what my ds was into! and just spend 10mins at a time letting him lead the conversation, but make sure I was facing him...not side by side.. make sure nothing interrupts - don't answer the phone etc and do this a few times a week ...no longer than 20mins .worked for us he really improved...
