What time do you think is an appropriate bedtime for a 10 year old boy! He not very happy as he is in bed at 9 oclock, lots of children playing out at this time. Light nights are not helping. what time do your s go to bed at?

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

My 9yo dd goes to bed at 8.30 (ish) when she doesn't have activities, and around 9.30 when she does.

8.30 - 9.00 at weekends.

Yep, 10y-o and 8 y-o siblings go at 8.30 ish, lights out by 8.45 or 9 on weekdays, later at weekends. 7 y-o goes at 8 ish.

Get black-out curtain liners or blinds.

When I was at boarding school in the 1970s the bedtime for 11-12 yr old was 8.00 p.m.

Now our DS1 has to be fully and properly in bed by 8.00 p.m. (age 9) and can read until 8.30 on school days. He can stay up a little later at weekends until 9.00 p.m. but no reading allowed.

DS1 who will be 12 this Saturday has to be in bed by 9.00 on a school night. DS2 9, has to be in bed by 8.30.

They both stay up a bit on a weekend.

DS aged 10 has lights out at 8.15. If he is in bed before that he can read. This does slip during holidays and someimes at weekends.

We do have the advantage of living in the country with no near neighbours. Also, he is at school until 5pm so is always knackered
