Poo-poo, wee- wee, bottom, I can see your tail hee-hee

This is frequently coming out the mouths of my 5yo DTS. DH and I are ignoring it mostly but sometimes we have to tell them to stop, especially when we are out in public.

Is this obsession with bodily functions part of their development or should we being doing more to curtail it?

Tell them that certain words may not be said in public because they are unacceptable to some people. It is a part of childrens' development to have phases like this, but they need to learn how to manage them appropriately. So let them know when and where they can say these things, when you can ignore them, and no-where else.

Agree with Reality re: 'tail'!

Oops, did not realise that "tail" was not acceptable. Will try to change that.

When my ds was 4 his best friend called his penis his winkle!His mum complained to me that my ds was teaching hers bad language-he had said,'Its not a winkle its a penis,you eat winkles.'!!!!
