Does anyone else have days like this?

12 week old was awake ALL day apart from about 4 x 10 minute naps in my arms. It's 9.30 pm here and he's just gone to sleep - I hope to God for longer than 10 minutes now. I am exhausted, my back is breaking, my arms are aching... I tried everything all day - rocking, carrier, feeding, feeding, feeding, pushchair etc. Nothing worked! Help! Any ideas why?? Or how to then get very overtired baby to sleep?

I did leave him for a couple of times today because I just had to take a break from it. He just cried and it got worse and worse. I left him for about 5 mins each time, I guess, but couldn't stand it more than that.

Also, that sounds like a lot of 'doing', but bear in mind it was over a 14 hour period!

ok, so i will be flamed but.... have you considered a dummy?? ds1 was about this age when we succumed(sp?) and he had just for naps til about 18mths. Mind you I have friends who perservered, got past the 'cant put them down' stage and their babies slept well. Whatever you do, keep saying to yourself
This will pass...........

do you have a decent sling? mine was a lifesaver as ds2 slept so well in it, and it meant I had hands free to make lunch, hang washing out, sit down with tea and cake etc etc

We've tried a dummy and he just won't take it. (I tried several times again today just to make sure!) I'm bf'ing and he weighs 16.2 lbs at 12 weeks, so I think he's getting enough - I was feeding him pretty much constantly today. Could it be a growth spurt? Do they disrupt sleep like that? Usually he's pretty good - falls asleep after being awake 90 mins to an hour with just a bit of coaxing (carrying/rocking for a couple of mins).

could be a growth spurt yes, maybe he just wanted more feeding?

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your insight! He's still asleep so am starting to feel normal again :-)
