24 month old ashamed of being naked?

What do you think's going on here then? My 24 month old (who has very mild autism) recently started nursery part time. At the moment we're doing 'inskolning' - a few weeks where I am there and am gradually withdrawing. The longest he's been left there on his own is 1hr30, and only a couple of times so far.

Since then, he seems to be ashamed of being naked when he has his nappy changed. When I tell him he needs his nappy changing he says 'NO! NO!' and when his nappy comes off he puts his hands over his eyes, or closes his eyes. Stopped doing it the minute a new nappy went on. Happens in the bath too (which he used to love) - now he just closes his eyes and cries until I lift him out and dress him.

What do you think the reason behind it is and is there anything I can do? He's very clingy with me, and even more so since he started nursery. Do you think it's because someone else has changed his nappy at nursery?

It's all most odd.

i would speak to the nursery and ask if he does it there aswell, tell them its just started since he began with them and ask if they have come across this before and what do they suggest you do. they are childcare professionals and shoud be able to point you in the right direction at least.
