We co-slept with our 10 month old DD until about a month ago when we moved her into her own cot in the nursery. However, she refuses to sleep in it unless she can snuggle up to my maternity pillow which I have placed around the edges of the cot under the sheets (so there are no gaps). It basically forms a U-shape around her - but leaves enough room for her to roll. I didn't think it was dangerous because she has excellent head control, she rolls, sits up from lying position, crawls, stands etc, etc so I figured it was safe. However, the other day a sleep consultant came to help me try and get her to sleep through the night and she recommended I take the pillow out. I tried...but my DD cried hysterically until I put it back. I feel like she has made progress sleeping in her cot on her own and the pillow makes her feel secure...Is it really unsafe to have pillows at this age or are the baby experts being over-cautious??? Has anyone else had this issue?
