I have always had sleep issues with dd1, she never needed much but sometimes I feel that she needs a 'good catch up' She is an extrememly active child How much sleep do your lo's have and what activity do they do?

An average weekend goes like this:

Fri: Swimming after school. Out to play with friends till 8ish. Bed for 9pm

Sat: Up at 7.30am. Play ds. Take dogs out for an hour long walk (andd I mean walking all this time). back to granddads for lunch. Home to play with friends. In for 8pm. Bed for 9.

Sun: Up at 6.30am. Zoo keeper at local mini zoo till 12.30 (from 8am). Spent rest of the dday at the zoo with family, playing at the park, going round zoo etc. Out to play with friends. In 8pm. Bed for 9pm

Mon: Off school for local holiday so went to big family farm park thing. There all day, play barn, trampolines, animals, soft play, etc. Home then gymnastics for 2 hours.

Bed for 8pm. Still awake now, reading stories (claims she cannot sleep). And I know she will be up early in the morning again.

Please addvise

My dd's are that age and sleep from 9 pm until 7 pm, the younger one maybe 7.30

DD (7y) goes to bed between 7:30-8:30pm on a school night, depending on if she has had a club such as Brownies or Drama (they finish at 7:30pm). She wakes up between 7-7:30am. She will read in bed ometimes too depending on how tired she is.

At weekends she tends to go to bed a bit later and wakes up later.

Hhhmmm. bed always used to be 8pm but it has been getting later as she just wasnt sleeping when we put her to bed but now even if bed isnt till 9pm (which is rare/holidays and weekends) she is still awake at 9.45 and she is always up early. Occasionally I ddo have to wake her at 8am for school though but that is occasionally . I was wondering if I was expecting too much for her to sleep more. I just thought that if they were awake later they slept later but that doesnt seem too be the case in my house.

DD is 6. She needs quite a lot of sleep, imo.

She goes to bed at 7.45pm and is woken at 6.45am

Thanks all. I just wondered if she was abnormal in the amount of sleep she seems to survive on but now I see that I was being unrealistic still expecting her to sleep for 12 hours

My DS's are the same age,
go up to bed at 8 but dont get to sleep until at least 9
Normally up at 6.30 - 7am.
THey do sometimes have a catch up, not getting up until about 8 - but very rare!

Cool thanks, I feel better about her sleep now. Thank you all

DS is 6 and he falls asleep around 8pm and is up by 6:45 every day. This is pretty standard, even if he goes to bed later he always wakes at 6:45.

He does 3 miles of cycling every day, plus swimming tice a week, beavers once a week, loads of running around and playing in the park and at playtime and lunchtime at school, and every weekend is spent climbing, walking and hiking, so a lot of physical activity.

Mine are 7, 5 and 2. Seven year old dd goes to sleep at 7.30pm (after reading for 15mins) and is woken at 6.45am. The other two are asleep at 7pm and are awake at 6.15.
