DS (nearly three) started to cry before going to nursery - is this normal?

DS used to be fine with going to nursery. Would happily get in the car etc. These days he starts to cry when we get him dressed, saying he doesn't want to go. Some mornings he's sobbed his little heart out which has been awful for me to see

However, when he gets there he is fine and when I pick him up, he's happy and full of beans about what he's done for the day

Is this normal?

yes! Mine did the same for a few weeks, no apparant reason.

Check with the nursery there isn't anything, eg change of carer, new child etc that might be causing it. It should blow over soon - goo d luck!

Yes, normal. My 3.5 year started doing it, turned out it was because his coat peg had been moved & he couldn't get his coat by himself at playtime anymore & was afraid to ask for help.(I don't know why, the staff are lovely and wouldn't ever make him feel bad, but he is rather over-sensitive)
Then it was because they started singing 'thank you for the food we eat' at teatime, and he didn't know the words -again, tears before going, but fine wen picked up.

Maybe there's been a change at nursery that your son doesn't like? A favourite child leaving, different food, even something tiny like my son's coat-peg obsession?
