Are clothes manufacturers making baby clothes on the small side or something. DS is 4.5 months and is 15lbs and very long. Even still, I was shocked this morning to find myself having to put him into 6-9 month clothes - the only 3-6 things that fit him are the odd vest and sleepsuit. He is on 75th percentile so bigger yes, but not huge. Are there any other mums working this far ahead on the clothes front? I feel a bit sad actually, he's growing so quick.

DS- 13 weeks, is in some 6-9 stuff already... went into 3-6 mo stuff at 6 weeks!
He isn't particularly huge either.

ds1 is 10 and in 12-13 yr clothes he was 3 weeks early and weighed 6lb 7oz by the time he was 12m he was in 2-3 yr clothes.

ds2 is 19m was 1m early and weighed 5lb 15oz he is now in 3-4 clothes.

i was saying the other day how clothes seem to have got smaller..

DD1 is very tall and weras clothe 2years over her age for length but they are always to bid at the waist.

DS2 is pretty much spot on with shop sizes.

DS3 and DD4 on the other hand are probably going to still be wearing the same clothes in a couple of years as they do not seem to grow at all!

typos!

The sizing of baby clothes is all over the place. 6 mo DD has 2 pairs of jeans in 3-6 months - she grew out of the Gap ones weeks and weeks ago but the M&S ones are still too big.

Kingrolo, know what you mean about Gap. Love the clothes but they come up so small.

My DS went into 6-9m straight from birth. MIL was very disappointed he could not wear the lovely outfit she got for him.

Is now 7 and wearing age 10-11.

Though it depends on the shop - i find Next are very small.

i have the opposite problem, dd is 22 months and wears 9-12 month trousers, 12-18 month tops since last week. she is short and thin and everything hangs off her.

thecloudhopper · 14/05/2009 15:53

There is the other side of it is a child is in recaeption and is 5 and wears age 18 month tops and 2 year ol trousers

keels26 · 14/05/2009 18:03

My Dd has always been in bigger size clothes then her age. She is 18 months old and is in size 2-3. Thankfully they are a bit big but there just didnt seem any point in buying her 18-24 months because she wouldnt get any wear out of them, and has clothes that size now anyway. She is very tall (always has been) and still a little bit chubby. And very heavy!!!
