Hi there, not posting this as a 'problem' as such, but wondering whether this is fairly common. My DS is experimenting with sounds inn a big way, and it's pretty much non-stop, apart from when he's madly dribbling and stuffing his fingers / sleeves in his mouth. His sounds are a bit like mmmmmmmmmmuuu...nnnnngggg....ehboooooo...mmmeeeehhhhh...nnneeeeeeboobrrroooo...vvvmmmoooo etc etc . It's great that he's finding his voice, apart from that he always sounds grizzly and does it with a frown on his face so it's more like being whinged at the whole time (never content with any one place / activity for more than a minute!).

Sound familiar to anyone?

My ds used to make similar sounds and look as though he was talking from as young as 12 weeks. You could sit and chat with him. It was very sweet.

lol it's so sweet when they do this, ds who's six months also does this but i can relate to that almost whingy tone that they have!

My 14-week-old is doing exactly the same thing and today has developed a realy throaty, deep growl! She's usually to be found with both fists in her mouth and a permanently soaked top from all the dribbling so it's does sound very familiar.

or even it does sound very familiar

DS is the same (4.5 months) - he has gone from cute ooohs and ahhs to the grizzly moan and throaty gurgling. He has also developed the most bizarre habit of pouting and pushing his bottom lip out with his tongue. He looks like a cross between pob and a chimp.

lol HarryB!

yes, can identify with the throaty gurgle too. sometimes accompanied by a sly smile like a cute pirate - aaaaaarrrrrgh
