Just had horrendous morning with dd2 who spent nearly whole time we left for plygrp crying, it all started cos I couldnt find her lidded cup so gave her diluted juice in her open tombliboo cup. She left it on the side but then when she found her lidded cup in her room started to cry about having squah in that one and on it went, cos I refused a) cos havent time for faffin I'd already put in other cup b) am trying to discourage her from using the lidded - she's 3.5 doesnt need a lidded cup. anyway she had a sip of water out of her sister's deinks bottle and that was it! I have noticed that she will drink a lot more if it's in a bottle or lidded cup and if it's diluted juice rather than water. Did I make a big deal for nothing, I stayed calm but refused to give in was I being mean, especially as she was awake in the night so is a bit tired today too, or was i right to stick to my guns?

personally i would have given her her lidded cup, don't really get the problem with her having it to be honest.

She may not NEED one but atleast she drinks from it which has got to be a good thing?

But then my ds who is 6 still has a lidded cup a bedtime and we don't have a problem with this, at least he is drinking. I know it is just a habit,a nd he doesn't kick of if he oesn't have it and i assume he wont want it when he is 12! also i love lidded cups for travelling. They have thier plusp ponts.
