Hello,
My little boy goes to bed in our room in his moses basket at 7:30-8pm, I dream feed him at 10:30pm, he wakes for another feed anytime from 1-3am. The last 5 nights he has woken at: 1am, 2,am, 3am, 4am, 5am-then has has awoken ready to play at 5am, plays for an hour, goes back to sleep at 6 till 7. I feed him at these one hourly wakes, and he feeds well, falls asleep, i lay him down in his basket and then he wakes up again in just under an hour! What should I do?
Basically I am a wimp as I stuff him on the boob in the hope he will fall alsleep! I have tried not top pick him up, rubbed his tummy, sang to him, put on some white noise, picked him up, gave him a quick cuddle and put him back, but then he has a melt down. He feeds 4 times in the daytime and i try and offer him more, but he is not interested. I have tried co cleeping but he doesnt like it, I have and am trying with a bottle to see if a few ounces of formula at bed time would knock him out. We are on our 3rd bottle, he is not interested, he gags, same with dummies.
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!
What should I do, should I move on to controlled crying??? Is this a sleep regression as before he slept 8pm-2am-5am-7am and this was so much better. He is a happy lovely little thing, and has 2 naps in the day.
Any advice or reassurance would be appreciated. This is my 1st baby.

See this thread. Especially link one that I posted towards the end.

I think it is probably a growth spurt, it usually is when you feel like you can't get them off your damn boob!

my personal opinion is that he's too young for controlled crying but others may disagree! He will get there in the end with the bottles, just give a few drops here and there when you're feeding him and he'll realise it's not all bad! Also are you expressing milk? Cos he may just not like the taste of formula compared to your breastmilk.

i don't know what else to say except that i think up to about 6mo my babies both had phases of feeding all the time, I think they got really distracted by all the goings on during the day, then stuffed themselves in teh quiet night time!! It does get better though. And then it might get worse again... Sleep patterns never just continue to improve they always go backwards and forwards a bit, cos so many things affect it.
