Starting toilet training with a girl!

DD has just turned two last week, her brother is three and has been potty training fairly successfully for the last few months so she's very aware of the potty.

Over the last couple of weeks she's been pulling her nappy off and sitting on the potty or trying to climb onto the toilet and I'm not sure if it's a "I want to be like my brothers" thing or if she's genuinely ready to toilet train. The boys were both around 3 and on the 3rd or 4th attempt when I got them into pants so she seems still very young to me, but then I know from flicking through threads here that many of you have your DCs in pants at 2.

I don't mind giving it a try with her (although with me due a new baby any minute her timing couldn't be worse!) but I am worried about her regressing after the new baby arrives.

What would you do? And for those of you who have potty trained both girls and boys, is it really so different?

My girl determinedly removed every wet nappy from about 15 months. We had a soggy time of it for a while, but she was adamant (and certainly reliably dry before 2), so maybe yours really is ready?

The boys frankly couldn't have cared less till around three.

It's funny you saying that, I haven't noticed her doing that if she's wet but she does if she's dirty. I've invested in a wee pack of pants for her so I'll maybe let her run around with them on at the weekend when Daddy's here to help out and spot the wet patches
