2 week old - how much formula and when to introduce routine??

ello all
I'm hoping for advice on guiding my 2 wk old into a routine.
I used CLB for my son and it worked liked a dream, he slept through from 7wks and is a real clockwork baby at 2 and a half.
My daughter was born at 6lb 10oz, 2lbs lighter than my son, and is far more erratic than he ever was.
I'm happy to let her lead the way while she's a wee thing but hope to get her into CLB routines soon.
At the moment she sleeps for almost the whole day and she's wide awake from 7pm and likes to snack from 5pm to 9pm, which means she's not up for a good feed at 10pm and is awake through the night.
She's also very windy and I'm worried I'm overfeeding her - on a good day she is fed at 7am, 10am, 2pm, 5pm, 6.15pm, 10.30pm and 3am and she takes 4/5oz at each feed, she's now 6lb 14oz.
Does anyone have any advice? Thanks

Hi bubblagirl
Thanks for your reply. Glad to hear it's normal! Although I'm now even more worried that I'm overfeeding. HV just weighed her and she's 7lb 9oz, up from 6lb 14oz in a week...

Also, I'm new to this, can you tell me what ds, dd etc stands for?

Sorry, now I'm doing obscure abbreviations.

She is not going to do the saem as your son as she is a different baby.
Mine fed 2 hourly for 6 months and were good weights but not over weight.
I wouldn't do formula yet but that is just my opinion.
I would go with it more as 2 weeks, to my mind, is too young to be thinking about routines.

Don't have any choice but to do formula, I was unable to breast feed. That's why I'm concerned about overfeeding.
Do they just keep on sucking to satisfy their suck reflex or is she genuinely that hungry? It seems like a lot of weight to put on in a week.

Apologies.

I thought you were breast feeding and thinking about going onto formula.

FabulousBakerGirl · 08/05/2009 13:18

I am sure that some weeks my eldest put on 1lb.

My son put on a lot of weight in his first year and it's all levelled out now but I remember being alarmed by his huge jumps in weight gain.
I think because my daughter was 6lb 10oz I expected her gains to be more measured, it's a bit of a surprise to see her piling on the ozs so quickly.
