Ok, so My daughter wouldn't go to sleep last night, so my partner put her in her room and left her to cry. I waited outside and went in a few times to comfort her (just layed her down, covered her up and kissed her head), then I went in a sat beside her bed for a while holding her hand, this seemed to make her 'wake up' a little more, so I left her again and after two loud cries she went to sleep! She stayed there all night and was very happy this morning. Normally she gets a cuddle to go to sleep, which I quite enjoy, but she needs to learn to sleep by herself. Once asleep I put her in bed and she is usually good and sleeps through.

SO what do I do about her nap today?? Do I do the same thing and leave her to cry? Or should I cuddle her? Im am sure that she will not go to sleep if I leave her as it takes quite a bit to get her to sleep during the day, also if she sleeps to late in the day, she doesn't go to bed at night.
Should I not give her a nap, but risk her falling asleep at 6? I'm not sure where to go with this and would appriciate some advise. Thanks.

My DD is 23 months. I would delay her nap a bit until she is very tired, then put her to bed and leave her to settle herself. She's be so knackered, she won't be able to protest very long! Does she have a comforter? Blankie? special toy?

It works for my DD!

btw, I don't allow sleeping after 3pm...I wake her then if I need to.

I can delay, but she will go until about 5 or 6 then completely crash. She has a dummy for sleep times, but she still cries for me.
I don't let her sleep past about 2, otherwise she will be up until about 10pm. But this means her going to sleep at 1! Which I don't think she will do on her own, if I cuddle her to sleep, she usually goes about 11.30/12ish for an hour. I have to wake her from her nap every day.
