I totally agree with ge that he is still very little but can relate to your feelings about not setting up bad associations. My advice would be to wind him down gently after his pre sleep feeds. I have tried giving my sons a long, warm bath, baby massage, story time then bottle, maybe a few gentle songs whilst in cot, then lights out. A friend of mine swears by her babie's musical mobile too. These things will not make your baby fall asleep instantly, nor will they be a magical cure but if you consistently give him the correct association with sleep he, may, drop off. Good luck.

it's not called the "fourth trimester" for nothing. Just cuddle him - what babies want and what they need is the same thing at this age IMO

Oh, I'm so glad you said that about the fourth trimester!

I have a gorgeous 7 week old who is really content apart from 7-11pm. I think that's pretty good going (she sleeps well at nights) but my partner thinks we should be leaving her to cry in another room in the evenings in case she gets into 'bad habits'.

I think he's a loon, and prefer to do some cuddling, bad singing and dancing to comfort her during those hours... am I wrong?
