Just changed nappy before bed and found a tiny streak of blood on nappy plus reddish urine. Why would this have happened??

Of course I'm feeling sick with worry but can't find the bloody baby boook anywhere to read what to do, will go to doc tmw of course but just want to know what this could be a symptom of. Please help!

Ring NHS direct. Presumably could be an infection, but they will give you accurate help.

Hope all is ok

Don't worry

This happened to mine a few times but was nothing

Does she seem crabby or have a temp?

titferbrains · 07/05/2009 20:52

She has just gone down wiht no probs, had a good bottle feed and a bit of boob as well, she has been on/off food for a while but I put that down to teething. Her poos are green at the mo so I guess it could be dehydration/UTI??

Found the book and it's not helped. Waitin gfor call from NHS direct.

anyone else had/seen this? Can they get urate crystals at this age?

My DD had green poos and some blood in her nappy at about that age. The first time it happened we took her to A&E and the 2nd time to the docs but both times she seemed perfectly healthy and happy otherwise, so they didn't seem to think it was anything to worry about.

Advice on mumsnet led us to believe it might be a milk protein intolerance. It got worse when we started weaning and as a result we asked for a referral to a gastroenterologist. He concluded it was probably a milk protein intolerance but by the time we saw him, it had cleared up of its own accord and hasn't recurred since (she's 20 months now and eats most things.)

this happend to our ds when he was a few weeks old, asked the health visitor she said it happens in some babies, after a couple of days it cleared- not sure this has helped much but try not to panic- I know it is very hard not to panic with young babies. good luck with docs/hosp, hope all clears up

Morning titfer - hope all is okay with the LO?

titferbrains · 08/05/2009 09:25

Mooki, thanks for that, have been giving her a bit of yogurt but not loads. Good to hear another possibility less stressful than a possible UTI!

PSCC thanks, didn't know how to get hold of HV last night but NHS were patient and helpful.

hey arti thanks for msg, we're off to doc soon so hope they will reassure us. Just want to get a urine test to check. Of course nappy all fine this morning...

Hope you and DS are well, I was just thinking about going to park but now it's p*ing with rain so I guess I'll stay in and get some cooking done.

Have bought hair clips for dd, she looks very funny. Will post on FB. xx

Just to say, after I took my daughter (7mo)to GP about blood in her urine, GP checked her over and found a lump in her side that turned out to be a cancerous tumour on her kidney.

My DD started chemo yesterday. We think she'll make a full recovery.

Please don't ignore this symptom or allow it to be brushed off as a UTI. Make sure your GP checks yr child thoroughly as the lump, although large, was easy to miss as it is just where the nappy goes.

Hug your little ones tight and be grateful for their good health! I never thought this would happen to me!

Titfer
OMG best wishes.

My dd has repeat UTI's but has been examined and scanned numerous times. But still, makes you think.....

My dd had blood in her nappy around about that age but it was coming from her vagina, God knows what it was but its ALWAYS wise to get it checked out.

Sending big hugs

pottycock · 17/05/2009 21:23

Thank heavens you didn't just ignore this titfer - how awful for you all. So pleased to hear your little soul is on the road to recovery and lots of love and best wishes to you all.

listenglisten · 17/05/2009 22:11

Hi titferbrains

I wanted to let you know that my dd also had a kidney tumour, I expect it might be the same type.

If you want to talk about anything then let me know.

I hope she is doing well.

titferbrains · 18/05/2009 20:55

listenglisten, would be great to talk, am finding things a bit daunting right now.

what's the best way to get in touch?

Many thanks for posting.

Thank you all for your kind wishes. Need to have a rummage for threads which might help me through all this but am a bit scared...

titferbrains, without sounding condescending (sp?) I want to applaud you for trusting your instincts and looking after your dd so well. She is blessed to have such a mummy, I hope that her treatment goes well for you all x

Wallace · 18/05/2009 21:08

Hope all goes well, best wishes for you and yours xx

listenglisten · 18/05/2009 22:13

Well if you don't mind leaving your email I will get in touch.

My email has my name and surname in and so I'd rather not post it on the internet if that's OK.

Best wishes x
