Fear of grass...

13mo DS won't touch the grass. If I sit him on it, he cries. If he's on a rug, he won't go off the edge and looks worried. Anyone else's baby like this?

Yes DS was like this, it passes, dont knock it it, was great at least you knew where he would be when you got back

Hermione1 · 02/05/2005 11:22

i have heard of that, is it because its uneven or the texture. i can't remember why, sorry.

Mud · 02/05/2005 11:22

yes mine are all like that - I reckon it tickles so doesn't feel pleasant - I find it great cos at least I know they will stay on the lawn where I leave them

Gobbledigook · 02/05/2005 11:23

Yep, ds1 and ds2 both hated touching grass at first (and sand!) - they get used to it!

hunkermunker · 02/05/2005 11:23

Yes, I was thinking it was pretty handy really

I have a great picture of DD at 11 months sitting on the grass at MIL's house ... she has her feet in the air so she isn't touching it ... very sweet ...

LIZS · 02/05/2005 16:44

ds was like this - wouldn't walk barefoot on it. He does actually have sensory problems but I think it is pretty common for toddlers anyway.

snafu · 02/05/2005 17:00

I think this must be really common, hunker, there was a thread on it last year. Ds got over his fear though and now I can't get him out of the garden!

triceratops · 02/05/2005 18:41

Yes ds was at the same age. And according to my MIL so was dh! They are both fine now.

Aragon · 02/05/2005 18:43

Hi hunkermunker - yes DS was like this too. We stayed in a lovely villa in Prtugal last year (he was 17 months) it had the most beautiful garden with the softest grass I'd ever set foot on and DS wouldn't go near it. I am happy to report that at the age of 2 he has no problems with it.

hunkermunker · 02/05/2005 19:05

In speaking to my mum, I was like this too

DS can be funny about texture - clammy is his least favourite thing (isn't it everyone's least favourite?!).

At least I don't have to contend with "No, don't eat that snail!"...yet!!
