Is this separation anxiety (at 6 months)? What should I do?

My 6 month old has just started crying whenever I go out of the room. I thought separation anxiety usually started later than 6 months. Is this separation anxiety? And if so, what should I do to reassure her?

She's usually such a chilled out, smiley little thing so this is a bit of a shock

It sounds like it. DD has just started with this although she's 8.5m. I tend to tell her what I'm doing and make sure I cuddle her when I get back but it's really hard. I never had it with DS.

dd definately had separation anxiety at 6 mths (shame it co-incided with my return to work..)

Keeping talking so she can hear you can help

Singing lasts longer than talking, but neither works for more than a couple of seconds. I had to wedge her bouncy chair into our tiny bathroom while I showered for the first time since she was three weeks old
