Potty training, proud mum, get a life

I have to post this, and it just goes to show how sad a life I have. Ds is potty trained at the age of 3! He has shown no interest in it, and would have a stop if we suggested that he use the toilet of the potty. He is so set in his ways I thought that we would have an awful time of it, but he was a star, and it took a week. What amazed me was that today, he just went to the loo and did a poo! With no prompting.

I'm just so proud of him, but also a little sad, and he is a little boy now and not my baby

Now, about that life I have to get..........

thank you thank you thank you!!!!

ds aged 2 1/2 is just like you described yours, strops and all, and i've been dreading the day when we finally HAVE to train him.

maybe it won't be so bad after all...

ps, not sad at all - proud mum!

I'm proud for you and it isn't even my son. You're right about them growing up though. I look at my ds who is walking and just to see him walking down the hall in front of me with his little pants on he looks like a little man. It goes so fast.

Wonderful!

Have you noticed how wonderfully squeezable their little bottoms are when they're fresh out of nappies?? I couldn't stop squeezng DS1s Still can't actually!

Yes Soupdragon and so tiny.

I have to announce to the universe that ds (2y10m) went to the toilet, took his briefs and shorts down, and did a poo all on his own. He only called me afterwards to wipe his bottom. We only started potty-training on Saturday, and he has had bowel trouble since he was a couple of months old so this is BRILLIANT.

HMB, have to say that your post have meade me feel so relieved. DS is almost three and although very aware of his body functions, he just does not want to use the potty/toilet. I'm leaving the issue for another month, but am secretly despairing of him ever getting to wear his adorable little underpants. Hopefully I'll have a success story like yours to report in a while

Hmb and boyandgirl ... I can so relate to your feelings of pride!! I was ecstatic when DS potty trained in a few days at 2 yrs and 11 months. I felt like I had conquered everest ... I was so proud!
And like Soupie I just haven't been able to stop squidging DS' bottom since!!

Isn't it a shock when you bounce them on your knee, and instead of a lovely soft padded bum you get hard pointy little hip bones! Oh, but such a lovely shock.
