When did your DC move out of the cot?

Hey,

What age should you move your dc from their cot into a bed?
We have a cot bed and my ds has found he can climb out of it, now he won't stop. I'm worried he is going to hurt himself. All you hear is THUMP then ds crying. I am not hearing him babble or make any noise before the thud, and when we run through he just looks at us and laughs.
We have the base as low down as it can go, and i have no idea how he is managing it really. I stood him in his cot for ages to see if he would do it when i'm there, he wont. I can't figure it out, i am guessing he hooks his foot/toes over the edge and pulls himself over.

What should i do?

canttouchthis, we're the opposite, would have bought him a double but are getting given a single by family!

2 and went straight into a standard single bed with a bedguard

Moved him at the weekend, he's 2 next week.

stealthpolarpig, how weird is that! DS has had his bed in his room now for well over a year, so he's had plenty time to familiarise himself with it being there as part of the furniture.
no point forking out money when you can get a bed from a relative which is no longer needed. you have the right idea.
