rolling over and getting stuck

Hi all, hoping someone can offer me some advice.
My 5mo has this week become an expert at rolling from back to front (and can just about manage from front to back). Yay

  • I was so pleased but now he does it in his sleep and gets stuck on his front. Last night we were up 4 times to put him back.

Is there anything we can do to help him see that its not a good idea or will we just have to wait for him to learn this himself?

Any advice very gratefully taken

Well done to your little roller. Is he waking up frustrated when he rolls over or are you just worried he should be on his back?

Does the rolling onto his front wake him up and that's why you need to put him back? Or are you just worried because babies are meant to sleep on their backs? If the latter, then once they can roll over you don't need to worry if they sleep on their front - see NHS advice here.

If the former, then might a grobag help prevent him rolling over if he's not already in one?

sorry - cross-posted with jellyrolly!

Is he is a grobag? I'd be tempted to wait before I rescued him but I can imagine it would be difficult not to go and help straight away. My ds's just slept on their fronts, the lazy things. You could try and get him to sleep on his side., then maybe the transition to front wouldn't wake him up?

Sorry, not much help, and now my dinner's ready !
