Sons Toe and Finger nails don't grow !

My DS is 5. I always cut the kids nails whilst they are in the bath. DD has normal growth but DS toe and fingers nails never need cutting !! I thought maybe DH was cutting them but he said he hasn't touched them in months.
Is this normal ??

Ds's nails are like this. He bites/picks them.

My DS doesn't. Well he has picked his fingers but not his toes.
I wish mine were like his.
