Help! 10 month old restless at night

My 10 month old has always been a poor sleeper so we decided to move her into our bed at 6 months old. Things were much better and she started to sleep longer.

However, the last few weeks have been a nightmare! She is so active and wakes throughout the night. She uses my hair as a comforter and I wake with a banging headache in the morning (no exageration lol). When she wakes in the night, she gets up straight away and starts pulling herself up with the headboard, if we try to stop her she screams until we let go and she continues to climb and crawl over us. Last night she woke at 2am and wouldn't go back to sleep until 5am! I've tried putting her back in her cot but she will then cry as well as try to climb.

I am due back to work next week and am worrying how I am going to cope with a few hours of disrupted sleep each night.

Any advice would be appreciated!!

Hi Youngmummy2008,

Thanks for the advice. I give her a 7 oz bottle of her usual milk, she used to fall asleep on it but no chance now

How old was your son when you gave him Horlicks? Is it ok to give to a 10 month old?

It's nice to know others have been thro it and come out the other end x

Honestly?
Put her in her cot, suffer a few bad nights and then it will all be done with. Climbing / swinging from hair and screaming are all totally unacceptable things during sleeping hours!!!! Put her in her own room in her cot and she can then slimb / plaqy as much as she wants to without disturbing anyone else. She needs to learn that night time is night time and at 10 months, she is perfectly capable.

not sure about the horlicks thing sweetie x

no you can't give her horlicks.

some babies just do need less sleep. you could try putting her to bed later (grim i know becuase you lose evening time).

i don't think you are going to be happy with going through with putting her into cot alone, esp if you are going back to work soon.

i slept with ds until about this age, then got dh to put him to bed in cot and as ds got older he woke later and later in the night until it was more or less waking up time.

it does start getting much better from about this age, by 12m you will have a more settled pattern so just keep trying to work towards it.
