Hi,

I am copied this from the childrens health board in hope of more responses. Sorry if you've read it twice.

To cut a very long story short, my DD has been ill for what seems like an eternity.
It started with a cold, not a big deal, gradually got worse, high temp etc. GP prescribed antibiotics for ear infection. She then got such bad diahorrea (sp?) that it caused what the doctor described as a chemical burn on her bottom. Took her to the peadiatrican who felt that she didn't need the antibiotics and there was nothing wrong with her ears, but she has a stomach bug.
Lots of nappy off time, waiting it out, and she got better.

Then after one week of being healthy she got the diahorrea back on Saturday, terrible nappy rash, fractious and miserable. Back to the peadiatricain (Tues) who has sent stool samples for testing. Appears to be getting better but then on weds night thurs she developed a full blown cough, cold, and constant high temperature.

Is this really normal? 6 weeks is such a long time to be ill. She hasn't had any solids at all since Saturday morning.

She is 8 months old.
Is it normal or should i be worried?
Any suggestions of how to help her?

Sorry this is so long

Is it possible that the antibiotics were too strong, have given her diarhhoea and thrush (as they do). She would be miserable if he bum hurts. A constant high temp is more likely to be bacterial then a virus. Is she drinking?

I really would take her back to the GP.
