I'm at my wits end with my son , he is 10 months old and from he has been about 3 months he hasnt taken his hands out of his mouth , i dont mean just playing with his mouth this is like manic , he doesnt hold toys or reach out for stuff but he will eat clothes , blankets and today a sock . He was laying on his tummy seemed very happy his sister turned him over cos were he was laying was all wet , it was then that we noticed he was blue looking and had something in his mouth , his sock and it was stuck right back in his throat , my heart stopped a beat , its like a really bad habit he has to eat his clothes or have his hands in his mouth all the time , he could possible have a problem which is being looked at the moment as he hasnt reached his milstones yet , but if anyone has ever been through this and can give me some advice i'd be so pleased

bumping for you

OMG how scary for you!!
Does he have a dummy or something SAFE he can suck on? Maybe sleep suits and no socks for a while to

Hope you are ok, that must have been so traumatising

that must have been terrifying for you! The other thing to use is tights instead of socks under trousers although its getting a bit warm now. Is he teething? He might just want to bite down on something. Try regular pain relief if he is and try to find a rubbery toy small enough to have a good chew but not small enough to get all the way in his mouth iyswim. We use a rubbery postman pat figure which dd2 chews to death now.

Yes he has a dummy he just reminds me of a puppy wanting to bite on anything , he always eats his hands and clothes even if he isnt teething , just seems to be a bad habit it is in and i'm trying to get him break it . I've kept socks off him from it . He wont hold toys so getting him to bite on anything else is hard as i do have different things for him for this , they like to keep you on your toes i think he is going to be one to watch out for and hopefully not eat a sock again
