DD is now 11 months and used to sleep with just a stuffed monkey, she has now decided to favour sucking a muslin, which is fine - but she tries to ball it up under her head like a pillow.

Also we have just been camping over easter and she has a vango baby sleeping bag that has like a flat hood (not really a hood but a flat semi-circular bit to put her head on) and she seemed to snuggle into that and go straight to sleep with her muslin. Now we are home she has taken to sleeping in the top corners of the cot, trying to snuggle intot he bumper (not been in the cot long was to stop her getting her arms stuck int he bars and waking herself up - bumper is tucked well down the side of the matress so she can't get under it).

So can she have a pillow? I am only really concerned as she sleeps on her tummy now... any opinions appreciated!

Grobag do a first duvet set which involves a pillow arrangement and I think that is suitable from 1 yo. My DD not quite ready for that yet but it may be worth checking out for you?

Thanks, can't see her being ready for a duvet at all really, as would just kick it off (thank dog for grobags!)

pillows are ok from the age of 1 although ds had a goi goi pillow from a few weeks old (supposed to help prevent and correct flattening of the head). At 11 months I am sure it would be fine - not that far from 1 year really.

We do ahev a goi goi pillow as she got a bit of a flat head - but shortly after getting it she learned to roll onto her front to sleep!

I gave my DS a pillow at 11 months. He loves it now (took a month or two for him to get used to it and now he looks really comfy on it). I was paranoid for the first few weeks but has an angelcare monitor so was watching it closely. He's 14 months now and sleeps really well. It sounds like your DD would love a pillow. Just make sure you buy one specially for babies - they are smaller, flatter so safer. TK Maxx does them really cheap. Ikea has some too...

The grobag duvet thing is kind of all joined together. Joined up the sides with a pillow fixed in at the top end.

I just left ds's goi goi pillow in his cot even after he learned to roll and he has had a pillow ever since.
