advice on night feeds for young baby on 8 am to 8 pm routine

so we did the classic you know who routine for DS, but now his routine is more 8 to 8, and we have a 3 week old DD, trying to more or less synchronise them. She is an easy happy baby so far, feeds and sleeps well etc.

The main thing at the moment is night feeds, can anyone advise on what time to wake for a feed? I've been crashing out in the evenings and waking her at 12.30 midnight for a good feed, putting her down at 1.30 am. She then wakes at about 5.30, has a good feed and down at 6 am, but then doesn't want to wake up at 8 am, and the whole day gets later as a result.

Has anyone successfully done a fairly strict routine but 8-8 as opposed to 7-7? My fear is that 8-8 might just not work as well.. but she has to fit in with DS nursery etc, I can't be putting her to bed at 7 when he has his tea and bath..

any tips much appreciated!

yes, i did different times for a while. it was fine. ultimately it's whether baby no. 2 can fit in with the other things you've got going on and what your exact times are. at one stage i was doing 10 til 10.

i also did the woman that can't be named for dd1, but for dd2 just didn't worry so much. i actually didn't do the dream feed at all and dd2 started sleeping through around 3 - 4 months ie. 12 hours a night. so i'm actually rather glad i'm not doing that woman this time round!

My maternity charge at the moment we are encouraging on a 8pm - 8am flexible routine.

She is mostly in bed after a double sided BF at 8pm, then she has a formula bottle at 11pm, then she wakes anywhere between 4-6am and is BF and then sometimes she's awake for a chat at 7am, but we start the day at 8am with a double sided BF. She's nearly four weeks old.

I've read somewhere that babies going to bed later will wake the 12 hours slot, when one of my past charges did this then she'd just sleep an extra bit during the day.

Maybe change to 12.30am feed to earlier and see if that helps.
