Shyness in front of dad

My DH has asked me to post this.

He asks, why when he encourages DD (3.10) to do whatever she enjoys doing ( dancing, singing etc) is she becoming increasingly shy at doing it in front of him?

She is getting to the age where she is self conscious if she thinks she is 'on show'. Maybe she feels he is judging her.
I would find another way, make a game of it so that she does it in a very roundabout way.

I think he will have more luck if he does it with her so she is less under the spot light.

I notice that DD is far more self-aware infront of DH when he asks things of her rather than just letting her be.

My DS is the same and also 3.10. He was playing with something and he shouted at me to come upstairs and watch him. So me & DH went upstiars and when he saw DH there he said "NO! Not daddy! I'm too shy for Daddy." DH said ok I'll put my hands over my eyes and DS did what he did while DH dropped his hands . Funny little things aren't they? Ds is very shy though.

Thanks guys!

I think it must be fairly normal then by the sounds of it.
