My 2.5yo ds has recently discovered his bottom and keeps trying to touch it. It's truly horrid when I'm changing his nappy. He's learnt how to poo on the potty sometimes so I assume he's facinated by where it all comes from [boak].

Please assure me this is just a pesky little habit of some toddlers. Its driving me mad!

I'd make sure he's not itchy first.

I found that saying 'hands up' worked a lot better than saying 'don't touch your bottem' - ther latter made it worse as they laugh and do it more.

It did occur to me it might be itchy, but it doesn't look irritated and he doesn't try and scratch it when he's wearing clothes, I might see the gp just to be on the safe side though.

'Hands up!' sounds perfect .
